Art Director

The Art Director will be responsible for translating the client’s strategy, goals, and vision into online marketing assets. You will oversee all creative projects, including execution and planning, guiding the supporting teams. You are able to dig in and design but can also lead the team. You are an ace at managing multiple projects and competing initiatives without letting anything slip.  You are passionate about design and performance marketing and your work is always top-notch! You have great communication skills and love to evangelize your designs both internally and to the client.

The Art Director reports to the VP of Creative Services.


· Gives creative direction, trains, mentors and inspires creative team

· Follows through on original concepts with clear, concise art direction that is both visually interesting and focused on performance marketing

· Integrates designs with brand and esthetic cues while pushing the creativity of the work and evolving style standards 

· Follows best practices for quality user experience design from ideation, user flow and wireframes to final visual design and implementation 

· Develops and presents creative solutions on behalf of the agency that are informed by research and data and which generate a demonstrable ROI for our clients 

· Designs in a range of visual styles as appropriate for different clients and mediums 

· Critiques and evolves the work of our designers and integrates design requirements into all phases of production 

· Incorporates ideas and makes revisions in response to the feedback and criticisms of clients and team members in a business-like, open-minded manner.

· Maintains responsibility for project through final execution, including QA and reviewing and signing off on all revisions and production phases to ensure that selling message is clear 

· Applies new user experience and design fundamentals into brand development 

· Oversees detailed budgets and timelines


· Must be able to tell a compelling story with design

· Ability to manage multiple clients and varied projects, tight deadlines and high volume of work 

· Brings a demonstrated ability to model and execute consumer research and to analyze findings into actionable, strategic content 

· Must have a deep understanding and enthusiasm for web technologies, emerging design trends and innovations 

· Possesses the presence and experience to interface at the executive level, developing and maintaining client relationships and negotiating change within the business and within the brand 

· Must have strong communication skills: verbal, written (relevant to the articulation of marketing strategy and supporting content), presentation and meeting facilitation in both individual and group settings 

· Ability to develop decks and various communication vehicles with other stakeholders that address client’s strategy and tactical concerns 

· Possesses fundamental understanding of market research and marketing to develop marketing-driven solutions for our clients 

· Ability to generate and present thought leadership on behalf of the agency 

· Ability to facilitate brainstorming sessions and workshops designed toward specific outputs and client solutions


· Design or Interactive Media related degree or equivalent experience in the interactive design field 

· 3-5 years as a visual designer producing for digital marketing (web, banners, email, social, etc.) 

· Amazing portfolio

· Experience in a performance marketing agency a plus (not required)

· 1-2 years of management experience/art direction/junior art directions in house or agency 

· Must be organized and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage time

· Proven ability to multi-task and work efficiently under pressure with careful attention to detail is a must

· Able to see other people's point of view and receive criticism

· Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite

· Understanding of HTML development and testing, CSS
